Who we are
Al Gellene is a sole practitioner with an office at 41 Vreeland Ave., Totowa, NJ. He graduated from Stockton State College in 1977 with a B.A. degree in political science and attended Rutgers Law School in Newark and graduated in February, 1979.
Al has a wide range of experience in the practice of law having worked in a law firm environment and as a sole practitioner. He began practicing environmental law and branched out to become a general practitioner with a concentration in bankruptcy, family law and criminal law. Over the years he has also handled general civil litigation, business and real estate transactions and estates and wills.
In the late 1980’s, he worked for the New Jersey Public Defender’s Office. While there he was certified as a criminal trial attorney and tried a wide range of cases including homicides, sexual assaults, robberies, drug offenses and assaults. He achieved the first not guilty verdict in a murder case in Morris County in 25 years.
I will accept personal responsibility for your case and pursue your rights with diligence. I will explain to you, in terms that you can understand, the issues that are confronting you and the right path towards resolution of your legal problem. Recently he tried two sexual assault cases to completion with not guilty verdicts in each. He has handled multi-district federal civil cases. In the last year he obtained a settlement from the State of New Jersey in a sexual harassment employment discrimination case for $450,000 and recently handled a commercial real estate refinance for over $1,000,000.
Al currently resides in Denville, NJ along with his wife, and son and his wife and three grandchildren. He have lived in Denville for 30 years and served on the Denville Board of Education for 9 years.
